The Cardinal Spirit

Mackenzie Carmack

Hi my name is Mackenzie! I’m a senior at Scott County High School. I have been writing for almost nine years, originally writing short stories and poetry and I gradually began memoir and creative nonfiction. My interest in journalism stemmed from the summer of 2019, attending the Kentucky’s Governor’s School for the Arts for creative writing. This opportunity has allowed me to venture into published writing: editing, designing, and constructing a 20 page ChapBook. I also had the pleasure of contributing to Central Kentucky Youth Salute class of 2019. Along with writing, I also enjoy choir, going to football games, and serving as the former president of the Scott county Public Library- Teen Advisory Board. After I complete this school year, I plan to attend Georgetown College (and major in English Creative Writing, with a Journalism minor). As the 2019-2020 school year progresses, I am extremely excited about writing for the newspaper and yearbook and doing what I love most.
